01 UAE is training about 80,000 government staff to build ai agentsNot to use them: to build them. A figure for state ai capacity, announced at AI Everything Abu Dhabi.
Omar Sultan Al Olama, the UAE's Minister of State for ai, said about 80,000 government employees are being trained as "ai super users" who build their own agents. He spoke at AI Everything Abu Dhabi, in a session on data, agentic ai and the government of the future.
The figure comes from one report of the session. No government release was found.
At the same event
Scale AI and Presight, a UAE company, signed a memorandum of understanding on testing and governing ai agents, covering evaluation, governance, emergency response and scenario simulation. It was signed by Presight's chief operating officer Adel Al Sharji and Scale AI's head of EMEA. No financial terms were given.
Why it matters
This is a number for how much ai capability a state is building in-house, which says more than another signed agreement. Building an agent is now the easy part. The training that counts is knowing where the keys are kept, which doors are open, and what the agent does when it's told no.
