A cluster of physical-ai funding rounds landed on 28 September:
- SiMa.ai, which makes edge-ai chips that run on the device rather than in a data centre, raised a $150 million Series C led by Fidelity and Amplify Partners, with Dell Technologies Capital taking part
- Quartermaster, which makes ai sensors for maritime defence, raised about $140 million in a Series B led by Insight Partners
These figures come from a single funding roundup; we haven't checked them against each company's own announcement.
Why it matters
The consumer-agent rounds get the attention. Money flowing into edge chips and defence sensors is a better guide to where builders think the next bottleneck is: running ai on the device, not another chat model in the cloud.
