OpenAI has said its firing of three safety researchers, Tomek Korbak, Jasmine Wang and Mikita Balesni, "were not about raising safety concerns". It cited "a significant breach of trust beyond what's outlined in the letter they published".
The researchers' letter is dated 8 October; OpenAI's statement followed a day later. The firings were first reported earlier this month.
Why it matters
The two sides now disagree in public about why the researchers were dismissed. OpenAI hasn't said what the breach of trust was.
