Xiaomi's MiMo-V2.6-Pro is the top open-weight model, trained in under six days

A phone maker has released the highest-scoring open model on a leading independent index, under an MIT licence, reportedly for about $2.6 million.

On 22 September, Xiaomi released MiMo-V2.6-Pro, which scored 46.32 on Artificial Analysis' Intelligence Index, the highest of any open-weight model. That puts it ahead of open rivals GLM-5.3 (45) and Kimi K3 (44).

It's a sparse mixture-of-experts model with 1.02 trillion parameters in total and 42 billion active, a 1 million token context and native input across several kinds of media. It's MIT-licensed. API pricing is $0.435 per million input tokens and $0.87 per million output.

What else Xiaomi published

  • the full technical report
  • its end-to-end reinforcement-learning framework
  • more than 7,000 training environments with automatic graders
  • a distilled 9B model

According to Latent.Space, it was trained in under six days for roughly $2.62 million. The team is reportedly led by Luo Fuli, formerly of DeepSeek.

Why it matters

The cost and the openness are the story. The best open model in the world was trained in under a week, for less than the price of a nice flat, and you can download it tonight.
